Sean Harrigan, President
A native of Seattle, Washington, Sean grew up in the Pacific Northwest graduating from Walla Walla High School in 1965 and earned his bachelor of arts degree in Economics from Whitman College in 1973. He is a resident of Southern California. He was appointed to the State Personnel Board in June 1999.
In March 1991, Sean was appointed Executive Assistant of UFCW Region 8 -Western in California, and then Assistant to the Director of Organizing in Washington, D.C. in August of 1993. In January of 1994, Sean returned to California to serve as International Vice President and Director of UFCW Region 8 - Western, where his efforts are spent enhancing the benefits of members through collective bargaining agreements. In February of 2000, Sean became the Special Assistant to the International Union President and was responsible for coordinating all UFCW activities relating to the November 2000 presidential election.
Following the 2000 election, Sean served as the Director of Field Operations for the International Union and, as such, focused primary upon engaging UFCW members in the political process and collective bargaining.
In November of 2001, Sean began focusing his activities in California as the Executive Director of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Region 8 -States Council. In this role, Sean's primary focus is upon political and legislative activities.
