Alvin Gittisriboongul, Chief Counsel, Legal Office

Alvin Gittisriboongul was appointed in 2009 to serve as the Chief Counsel for the California State Personnel Board, a constitutional state agency responsible for the California civil service system. As Chief Counsel, he advises the Board and represents the agency in all legal matters and provides advice on legislation and policy impacting the civil service system. Before his appointment as the Chief Counsel, he served as the Presiding Administrative Law Judge for the State Personnel Board. He previously worked as a Supervising Deputy Attorney General in the Correctional Law Section of the California Attorney General’s Office. Preceding his tenure in public service, he worked in private practice handling litigation on behalf of employers, corporations, and public entities in employment and general liability matters. He also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Art McKinster at the California Court of Appeals, Fourth Appellate District, Division Two.

Alvin received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Ecology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from U.C. Irvine in 1990. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1993.
