Overview:
This entertaining and interactive one-day class blends a comprehensive overview of anti-discrimination laws and the principles of diversity behind them. Topics covered include race, gender, ancestry, sexual harassment, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, religion, age discrimination, and more.
Also covered is the biggest challenge in state service: avoiding perceived and actual retaliation.
SPB's program is not just a lecture. It is a learning immersion experience involving workshops, storytelling, problem solving, role playing, and historical context. The program will serve as a complete satisfaction of supervisors' mandatory training requirements under AB 1825, but will delve much deeper into helping trainees know how to recognize potential violations of laws and policies, and how to effectively implement the state's prevention program.
Objective:
This class provides participants with knowledge and skills about the wide array of antidiscrimination laws applicable to State employees and helps leaders incorporate skills and knowledge to implement these policies in a diverse work environment.
Intended Audience:
The class is designed and encouraged for all managers, supervisors, attorneys, EEO Officers, and personnel staff in state service. Any and all state employees will also benefit from attending this program.
